Clan: NFACT_RNA-bind (CL0684)

Summary

NEMF/FbpA/Caliban/Tae2 RNA binding Add an annotation

This clan includes the RNA-binding domains found in the mammalian NEMF, drosophila caliban, yeast Tae2, and bacterial FpbA-like proteins (NFACT). The RNA-binding domain associated with this family is also observed in distinct architectural contexts in other proteins across phylogenetically diverse prokaryotes. It is found in two eukaryotic gene contexts: fused to the NFACT-N and NFACT-C domains in the NFACT protein involved in the ribosomal quality control pathway which contributes to CAT-tailing and as a standalone domain. In bacteria, it is mostly found fused to the ThiI domain as a variant of the canonical tRNA 4-thiouridylation pathway [1].

This clan contains 2 families and the total number of domains in the clan is 5252. The clan was built by S El-Gebali.

Structures

For those sequences which have a structure in the Protein DataBank, we use the mapping between UniProt, PDB and Pfam coordinate systems from the MSD group, to allow us to map Pfam domains onto UniProt three-dimensional structures. The table below shows the mapping between the Pfam families in this clan, the corresponding UniProt entries, and the region of the three-dimensional structures that are available for that sequence.
