The proteins in this family are all fungal and largely annotated as being hyphally regulated cell wall proteins, and several are listed as the enzyme EC:184.108.40.206. This enzyme is acetylneuraminyl hydrolase or exo-alpha-sialidase, that hydrolyses glycosidic linkages of terminal sialic acid residues in oligosaccharides, glycoproteins, glycolipids, colominic acid and synthetic substrates.
