This family includes aldoxime dehydratase, EC:18.104.22.168. This is a haem-containing enzyme, which catalyses the dehydration of aldoximes to their corresponding nitrile . It also includes phenylacetaldoxime dehydratase, EC:22.214.171.124. This haem-containing enzyme catalyses the dehydration of Z-phenylacetaldoxime to phenylacetonitrile . The enzyme forms an elliptic beta barrel, composed of eight beta-strands, flanked by alpha-helices .

This superfamily of proteins possess a Ferredoxin-like fold. Pairs of these assemble into a beta barrel. The function of this barrel is quite varied and includes Muconolactone isomerase as well as monooxygenases.

We determine these interactions using iPfam, which considers the interactions between residues in three-dimensional protein structures and maps those interactions back to Pfam families. You can find more information about the iPfam algorithm in the journal article that accompanies the website.
For those sequences which have a structure in the Protein DataBank, we use the mapping between UniProt, PDB and Pfam coordinate systems from the PDBe group, to allow us to map Pfam domains onto UniProt sequences and three-dimensional protein structures. The table below shows the structures on which the Dehydratase_hem domain has been found. There are 22 instances of this domain found in the PDB.
